As you probably guessed my name is Jo Bryan! Originally from the UK, I moved to Rye, New York in the summer of 2005 and am now a US citizen. My passion for photography began at a young age and my camera was never far from my side. My father was an amateur photographer so I guess it’s in the genes. He developed his work in a dark room and still has thousands of black and white contact sheets. How times have changed! The passion really started to grow when I received my first DSLR camera around the time my second child was born in 2000 and I was finally able to capture hundreds of memories of the children as they grew so quickly and changed daily.
I am mom to a college sophomore daughter and a high school senior son. I love cats, all types of music, live concerts, spending time with family and friends, warm weather, blue sunny skies and my capturing real the real moment with my camera!
As well as natural light portrait and family photography, I love to capture scenery, candid moments and images of everyday life. There are so many opportunities to learn more about photography and I enjoy exploring and experimenting with new techniques. I love the artistic side of editing my work to create unique, customized imagery and can work with you on commissions if there’s a particular scene you love.
A selection of my work is on display and can be purchased at Gallery 52, 81 Purchase Street in Rye.
